The Knight - New Weapons Concept


Feel like turning him into a melee specialist rather than an all-rounder. Maybe we'll see some ranged weaponry on his shield. The halberd design is rather simple at the moment, but i'll explore more shapes in 3D.

Weeeeeee I actually painted something! No lines! I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. Despite my poor art background, I pushed myself to draw this without lines. Not liking the baldy head at the moment, and will most likely use the head design I first came up with.

The Knight - Doodles 1



Ah... something to keep me occupied. Figured I should make a series of chess-pieces inspired mecha/suits for fun. After the Pawn comes the Knight, which I intend to turn into a armored suit instead of a pilotable mecha.

Users of these suits are naturally of nobility and have undergone cybernetic enhancements. Thinking of arming them with an arm-gun+pressure spike for versatility in combat, and a shield which serves more than one purpose. The suits will also be outfitted with anti-grav units for mobility.

I know, i really suck at colouring. My sense of depth n bulk is so lousy i screwed up the whole drawing. This started off as figure practice and suddenly i looked at my new Miku Hatsune figure and decided to make her cosplay as Miku. Maybe i should just stick to line drawing.

Just to keep things going, i'll post this side view of the modified Rithanicus. Changed it into a reverse bipedal, considering that it'll be doing lotsa warps and making hard landings. And i really needed a side view to make things easier in 3D.

Nearing completion. This illustration is by all means a reference, and a lot changes will definitely be made during the sculpting phase. So far it has been mistaken as a Demon Prince class, but it is in fact a Machine > Cyborg(Demon) class.

DW4 | 3D | Rithanicus X68 - Concept Doodle 2



Exhausting myself too early in the competition, lol. The concept is intimidating in a sense that it'll be uber hard to flesh out in 3D. Will try a minimalist sketch over to see how things go.

*EDIT* Did some resizing on the thighs. May not look significant at first, but the thighs have been shrunk considerably.

Playing around with ideas, nothing is concrete at the moment. On thing that's certain is that Rithanicus X68 is equipped with the technology to warp into and around the battlefield, like Warp Spiders from the Warhammer 40k universe.

I'll also have to do a fusion of demonic and sci-fi styles for the armor design. Weapons are open for suggestions.

Eve Of CNY 2009

Ah, it's the 2nd new year's eve for me. Took a few hours just to finish up the Pawn's concept sheet, and will now proceed to doing more cleaning around the house. Hopefully i'll have the courage to jump right into 3D after this!

The Pawn - Armament

Johnny requested that there be weapons, so weapons he shall receive! Resisting the urge to equip the Pawn with high-end fancy weapons, the Pawn gets a crude and cheap (yet effective) cleaver to hack enemies up after closing in with their not-so-advanced-arm-embedded machine guns. Yes I know they're pretty small, but those guns aren't supposed to do s**t (sorry, Pawns) besides peppering enemies with low caliber ammo and trying to look intimidating.

The Pawn - Concept Sheet 3


Decided that a pawn should look like it's mass-produced, thus gave it a dusty, heavy and metallic colour scheme. Also shaded it and slapped on some textures for a better idea of its materials. Had quite some fun doing this, albeit a little tiring.

P.S : I know I left out the side view. Oh well.

Kinda refined the concept, and made some tweaks to the head. A fun and refreshing break from 3D, and that dreadful experience with the corrupted file. Will try out several colour schemes later.

The Pawn - Concept

Out of frustration and to heal the pain of the loss of work while ZBrushing, I started to sketch again after a loooong time, and this is the result of around 30 minutes of doodling. Very much inspired by Taehoon's 'Bigun', the winner of last year's Dominance War 2. Staying away from 3D for a while now.

Okay, I'm stopping further work on this illustration. I've spent far too much time, and it's not really satisfactory. I admit, I was a little too ambitious when I first started, and now, I'm getting tired of it.

So there you go, a Rithias in a more mobile suit of armor, equipped with the Fang of Goros (made that up, an anti-matter blade that separates the molecular structure of any material). Poor Taeron, (the metallic but rusty titan) he gets cut up for running amuck in Videan territory, near a military base.

Titan Down! 13/09/08 Update


Shrunk the giant's head to make him look bigger, and pointier as well. Background's a mess of fractals and outer-space stuff. Glows on Rithias are just a test, will turn them into gems that look like demon eyes or somethin.
