The Knight - Test Render

Acquired a previously elusive renderer today, and decided to play around with it a bit. Snecx suggested that I do a test render of the Knight, so here it is.

Feel like turning him into a melee specialist rather than an all-rounder. Maybe we'll see some ranged weaponry on his shield. The halberd design is rather simple at the moment, but i'll explore more shapes in 3D.

Omg 10th WIP. Almost done with the arm cannon thingy, it'll no longer hold the melee (pronounced /ˈmɛleɪ, ˈmeɪleɪ/, from the French mêlée, pronounced: [mɛːle]) weapon which will now be attached to the shield.

The answer : OVER NINE THOUSAND!!! (Sorry, lame personal joke.)

The paddings for the 'fleshy' parts such as the abdomen and thighs are done now, I modelled them manually for more control over how they'll look. Also added details here and there, trying to maintain a balanced design overall. I guess it's time to create his equipment.

Hookay, here's today's update. I remodelled the upper arm musculature (it's not a sculpted piece anymore), enlarged the thighs and made armor for the hands. There's still a lotta details to put in there, so feel free to comment and give suggestions.

Sorry for the large image, just HAD to post something. I've spent some time fixing proportions and the pose, as well as adding minor details all over the body. Things that I would most likely change/add for the next update :

- Upper arm musculature (Paddings and linings and such)

- Increase thigh size

- Extra equipment around the belt (Grenades, tools)

- Armoured gloves

Thanks to some encouragement from Snecx, I will resume working on the Knight project. Currently modelling the highpoly and doing most of the hard surfaces in Maya before moving on to ZBrush.

Sorry again for the lack of updates, the Knight has been put on hold for... this. The B2 Super Battle Droid from the Clone Wars, an intimidating droid which costs a lot more than the standard battle droids. No weapons at the moment.

The Knight - Weapon Concept

Weapon concept for the Knight's right arm. Shooty with a detachable choppy piece.

Weeeeeee I actually painted something! No lines! I have to admit, it was a lot of fun. Despite my poor art background, I pushed myself to draw this without lines. Not liking the baldy head at the moment, and will most likely use the head design I first came up with.

Ah... something to keep me occupied. Figured I should make a series of chess-pieces inspired mecha/suits for fun. After the Pawn comes the Knight, which I intend to turn into a armored suit instead of a pilotable mecha.

Users of these suits are naturally of nobility and have undergone cybernetic enhancements. Thinking of arming them with an arm-gun+pressure spike for versatility in combat, and a shield which serves more than one purpose. The suits will also be outfitted with anti-grav units for mobility.

Miku Hatsune Fanart

I know, i really suck at colouring. My sense of depth n bulk is so lousy i screwed up the whole drawing. This started off as figure practice and suddenly i looked at my new Miku Hatsune figure and decided to make her cosplay as Miku. Maybe i should just stick to line drawing.

The Pawn Gets Some Action

Finally managed to get a model into UT3, after 2 days of messing around with the editor. Unfortunately, the model doesn't exactly fit into the skeleton, hence the weird deformation at the hand. The textures are also screwy because UT3 has restrictions on how the UVs are placed (head area, arms area, etc.). I have yet to solve a problem with the shoulderpads, and the tutorials out there aren't helping much.

Oh yeah, Akhlys MK.IV got into UT too, but i didn't do any proper skinning to it. And FYI, i had to learn to skin the models in Max instead of Maya.

Ah, my external HD (which was a replacement for my broken one) got stolen at BlitZone Sri Petaling today due to my carelessness. Hopefully this ends the chain of misfortunes surrounding the HD.

Beauty Shot & Presentation Shot Edits

*Major edit : Fixed a glaring skinning problem at the abdomen, deformations didn't work properly when posed, leaving a large gap in between.

SOMEONE PLEASE STOP ME! I keep looking at the submission images and i just can't stop trying to edit them. The longer i stare at the images the more i wanna tweak them. Gahhhh!


Made a medium closeup for the beauty shot, and added a slight orange overlay for atmosphere. Manually blurred the sword cuz it's too 'in yer face'.


Rerendered the front & back views for the presentation shot, with a more... 'open' pose (the previous one had the sword covering most of the front). The lights were also repositioned, cuz my rig was so sucky i couldn't rotate the whole thing properly.

Beauty Shot Edit

I'm back! And i saw with my fresh eyes that the lens blur on the beauty shot kinda takes away some of the details. Since it's not really necessary, i removed the blur for a crisp look. Not going to post the image again, so i edited the previous post. If there are no other comments or suggestions on anything i should change, i'll be submitting the final images soon (just to get this done and over with). Thanks!

Dominance War 4 - Main Challenge Deadline

Just checked the main page for DW4 which is... HERE, and found out that the new deadline is 18th May! FFFFFUUUU----- and i worked my ass off rushing everything within a week!!! On the bright side, i'll be able to work on it some more when i get back, so feel free to comment on the entry! Calvin out.
